Take-Home Vs. In-Office Whitening: The Differences

We offer both take-home and in-office chemical whitening at #TheSmileDoc. Wondering what the difference is and which treatment is right for you? Here are a few of the differences between these treatments.

Overall treatment time

In-office whitening is faster than take-home whitening, so it’s a good option if you’re in a hurry to whiten your teeth for a special occasion.

Since you’re able to whiten your teeth at home, most patients find that take-home whitening is a more convenient option if they have a busy schedule.

Both take-home and in-office whitening from #TheSmileDoc will provide identical results, but take-home whitening takes longer to fully whiten your teeth.

"The staff and Dr. Reid were very courteous. They seemed genuinely happy to see me and were attentive and professional. It is nice to go to an office where the people actually seem happy to work there and really listen and care about what you tell them." "Best dentist I've ever had also the dental technicians."

Take-Home Teeth Whitening

Take-home teeth whitening involves using a set of custom-made trays and professional whitening products to whiten your teeth at home. To begin the process, you’ll come to #TheSmileDoc to have molds of your teeth taken. Then, Dr. Reid will build a set of custom whitening trays for you.

After this, you’ll come into our office to pick them up, and you’ll also get some instructions and whitening products to use. Follow these instructions closely to whiten your teeth and get professional-grade results at home! The process usually takes up to 2-3 weeks, depending on your desired level of whitening and how stained your teeth are.

In-Office Teeth Whitening

In-office whitening provides fast results. Dr. Reid will begin the process by cleaning your teeth and applying a special protectant to your gums, then using retractors to keep your cheeks and lips away from your teeth.

Next, he will apply a powerful chemical whitener to your teeth and activate it with a UV light. This will speed up the whitening process. After a few minutes, he’ll rinse the whitener away. This process will be repeated until your desired level of brightness is reached.

Depending on your level of staining, you may need to come back for another appointment. Severe teeth stains usually require at least 2 sessions at #TheSmileDoc.

The Benefits Of Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening at #TheSmileDoc has a lot of great benefits. First, it can help improve your confidence and your self-esteem. You won’t have to hide your teeth when you smile or laugh due to stains or yellowing. You can reverse years of staining in just 1-2 appointments at our office, and feel truly confident about your appearance once again.

You’ll also look younger after you get teeth whitening from #TheSmileDoc. Stains, discoloration, and yellowing make you look older than you really are, so teeth whitening provides you with a more youthful appearance.

In addition to these benefits, teeth whitening is very affordable and convenient, particularly if you choose take-home whitening from #TheSmileDoc. This makes it an excellent way to explore the benefits of cosmetic dentistry, and lets you restore your smile even if you have a tight budget.
