Learn MoreDr. Thembi Evans was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and moved to Miami, Florida, where she completed her early, middle, and high school education. After receiving a full academic scholarship, she graduated with undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Biomedical Engineering from the University of Florida (Go Gators!!). She went on to earn her dental degree from the University of Maryland in Baltimore, where she tutored high school students through the Head Start program and participated in volunteer dental missions in the Dominican Republic. After dental school, she completed a General Practice Residency at the Washington, D.C. VA Hospital, including surgical rotations at Washington Hospital Center.
Following her residency, Dr. Evans returned to Miami to be closer to family and opened her own general practice. For 13 years, she focused on creating a warm, welcoming environment where even the most fearful patients felt comfortable seeking treatment. She later made the decision to sell her practice and relocate to Austin with her family.
Outside of the office, Dr. Evans enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, traveling, and baking sweet treats for friends and family. She looks forward to treating you and your family with the compassionate care that has been the hallmark of her career.
Dr. Armando Reid founded #thesmiledoc with one goal: to practice dentistry the “right” way. As the son of two Panamanian immigrants, he was raised with strong values of service and compassion, and after an impersonal dental experience as a child, he became determined to create a more personalized, empathetic approach to care. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Prairie View A&M and graduated from Howard University College of Dentistry in 2009, later completing a residency at Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Reid is passionate about implants, smile makeovers, and comprehensive care that allows patients to receive treatment under one roof. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, creating music, traveling, and being outdoors.
